​Anna's work focuses on the portrayal of landscape and the human body in the poetry and painting of David Jones, especially his particular conceptions of poetic & visual form, British identity, and Theology in light of his experience of the First World War. 

Dr Jasmine Hunter Evans, 
English and Classics (Exeter)


Jasmine has recently completed her thesis 'David Jones and Rome: Reimagining the Decline of Western Civilisation', which contextualised Jones's reception of ancient Rome in wide-ranging discourses of civilisational decline. 

James Harland
PhD Candidate, History (York)


James specialises in the theory of history of the transitional period between Roman and Medieval Britain. He is organising a conference at York in May, 2016, titled: 'Interrogating the Germanic: a category and its use in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages.'
